SEM Images of Silver Foil

These SEM (scanning electron microscope) images are of fine silver foil for use as audio conductors. The image on the left is of "normal" rolled silver foil. The image on the right is of heat treated silver foil. The foil was heated to approx 50 degrees below melting point and kept at this temperature for many hours. The "normal" rolled silver foil exhibits very little ordered structure. By comparison the special heat treated silver foil exhibits large crystal structures.
